Study Italian in Florence with Italian me, a valid reason to read this small article. Leaving home during the summer dawn, and for dawn I mean really early in the morning, before 6:00, you will definitely be surprised by the number of “runners” you will met. The “runners”, passionate joggers who in every season take the challenge no matter is cold, rainy, hot, sleep, just  to keep fit.

The stereotype is that of a lazy person, sedentary, who in the best of the cases practice just one sport, football. Instead there are 6 million Italians (55% men and 45% women) who practice amateur race routine. It seems that in Italy the race has had a boom in relation to the economic crisis: to run is required no special equipment at minimum costs, there is no need for any subscription to any gym. The whole city is on hand! The only “price” to be paid is overcome laziness, perhaps by convincing a friend to join us.

Florence has increased more space to devote to this sport enthusiasts: the Cascine Park, the Albereta Park / Anconella along the Arno River, and also the old town or the riversides, especially early in the morning, in fact, when the tourists are still sleeping, and the Florentines have just woken up, and the frenzy of the day is still far away.

This year, on July 2, the Florence center will host the second edition of “Run at dawn”, a collective non-competitive race of 8 km or, for the more sleepy, a walk of 4 km through the city streets.

The meeting point is at dawn, at 4:45 at the Piazzale Michelangelo to collect the race pack and the departure is at 5:45. All participants will be offered a breakfast at the end of the race. It is a special opportunity to discover a different city, quiet, with an unexpected light, but above all, silente. Even for getting to know people who are passionate about the outdoors, with whom to organize great outings.

The American Academy of Science (PNAS) has conducted research that shows a positive effect of race for learning and memory. You can combine the benefits of this race while studying Italian in Florence and taking one of the Italian language and culture courses of Italian me.

If you want to participate, ask for information to the secretariat of Italian me, it’s an opportunity not to be missed.
