How does it work?

The school is intended to assist and help you to find the perfect lodging. If you need to find an accommodation in Florence and you don’t want to do it alone, we offer you different alternatives (independent apartment, family room, room in shared flat with other students, b&b, hotel, hostel). When you will have chosen we’ll put you in touch with the owner of the home, the hotel, or the real estate agent to work out the details and make the payment. The payment will not be made through italianme, but directly to the tenant or the hotel.

Only in the case of choosing a host family you may pay for accommodation along with the course.

What type of accommodation to choose? And where?

Florence is an average small town, but there are many people who come here from around the world, to learn the Italian language and learn about the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Tuscany. For this reason, the accommodation offer, in the center and outside the center, is varied. You can find a room for rent in a shared apartment with other students, b&b, families that offer rooms with breakfast or half board, apartments, hotels, hostels.

Living in the center or outside the center has its advantages and disadvantages. If you want to move around easily on foot, of course, the old town is the best solution. In 40 minutes you can walk from one side of the city to another one, walking through the beautiful squares and alleys of the city. Restaurants, museums, shops, bars, coffee shops, some of the most beautiful squares in the world, are at your disposal. You have to consider that by living in the historical center, you will find many tourists. If you rent an accommodation outside the city center you can easily move with a bicycle (in part of the city there are bike paths) or by public transport: the public transportation lines arrive everywhere and are quite comfortable. To get to one of the Florentine districts that lie beyond the historic center (3/5 km) you will need about 15-20 minutes by bus. Of course the traveling time depends on the traffic! There you’ll find mostly locals, Italians or foreigners, and every kind of shop and service that might be useful. It is useful to know that moving away from the center costs for accommodation can be more profitable.

ACCOMMODATION USEFUL INFORMATION

HOMESTAY

Family life is definitely a good opportunity to make a real experience in direct contact with the daily Italian habits, you can make friends and practice your Italian, but remember that there will be family rules and habits to be respected!

There are many Florentine families types who offer accommodation to foreign students: they are composed of young couples or older, with or without children, or a lady or a gentleman whose children have already left home.

The options are:

Room and breakfast: includes room and breakfast prepared by the family. It does not include the use of kitchen by the student

Half board: includes room, breakfast and dinner.

Room with kitchen use: Includes the room and the use the kitchen to prepare meals in accordance with the schedules and rules of the host family

Rooms can be single or double
Families are located in the Old Town or out of the center (within a maximum of 20 minutes bus ride to school)
The bathroom can be private, shared with the family or with the other students living in the apartment
The WiFi service is available in most homes
The room rent generally starts the Sunday before the course starts until the Saturday after the end of the course
The use of appliances like washing machine or iron is subject to family rules
Sheets and towels are provided by the family

ACCOMMODATION IN A SHARED APARTMENT

If you want to rent a room with use of kitchen in an apartment with other foreign or Italian students, choose the option shared apartment. By choosing this solution, you can enjoy maximum freedom, but certainly you will need to get used to and respect the customs and habits of people from different parts of the world.

Rooms can be single or double
Families are located in the Old Town or out of the center (within a maximum of 20 minutes bus ride to school)
The kitchen is shared with other students
The bathroom can be private or shared with the other students living in the apartment
The WiFi service is available in most homes
The costs for electricity, water and gas are included
The use of appliances like washing machine or iron is subject to the apartment rules

PRIVATE APARTMENT

Private apartments can be studio apartments, a two-room apartments or larger apartments. Prices vary depending on the area and the required period. If you are searching for a maximum of independence, this solution is the most convenient for you.

HOTELS, B&B, HOSTELS:

We can propose you different solutions according to your needs, in order to make pleasant and comfortable your stay in Florence. The city offers a wide variety of accommodation very close to the school.
